Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 packet instant yeast
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1/2 cup orange marmalade
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (optional)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tbsp milk (for egg wash)

Instructions

  • Preparation Steps:
Prepare the Dough: Combine flour, sugar, salt, and yeast. Add eggs and warm milk; mix until dough forms. Add butter, kneading until smooth and elastic.
First Rise: Let the dough rise in a warm spot until doubled in size (1-2 hours).
Prepare the Filling: Mix orange marmalade and zest, adding sugar if desired.
Shape the Brioche: Roll dough into a rectangle, spread orange filling, and roll into a tight shape.
Second Rise: Let dough rise for another hour in the pan or on a baking sheet.
Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Brush with egg wash and bake for 30-35 minutes until golden.
Cool and Serve: Cool slightly before slicing.

Notes

For added richness, try adding a layer of cream cheese with the orange filling, or sprinkle chopped nuts on top before baking for extra texture.
