  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/3 cup whole milk

Instructions
 

  • Preparation Steps:
    Prepare the oven by preheating it to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch cake pans (or line with parchment paper).
    Mix Dry Ingredients: Sift together 1 3/4 cups flour, 3/4 cup cocoa powder, 2 cups sugar, 2 tsp baking powder, 1 1/2 tsp baking soda, and 1 tsp salt in a bowl.
    Add Wet Ingredients: Stir in 2 eggs, 1 cup milk, 1/2 cup vegetable oil, and 2 tsp vanilla extract until smooth.
    Boiling Water: Gradually add 1 cup of boiling water to the batter. The batter will be thin, but that’s what makes it so moist!
    Bake: Distribute the batter evenly between the prepared pans. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out dry.
    Cool Down: Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
    Frosting Time: For the frosting, beat together 1/2 cup butter, 2/3 cup cocoa powder, 3 cups powdered sugar, 1/3 cup milk, and 1 tsp vanilla until smooth.
    Assemble: Spread frosting on one cake layer, then place the second layer on top and cover the entire cake with frosting.
